I write a lot. Sometimes it’s nonsense.

By Cindi Pearce

This isn’t the first time I’ve created a blog but it’s been 10 or 15 years since the last one and blog development seems to have gotten a whole lot more complicated than it was back then.

I’m trying. I’m sighing and huffing and puffing and getting frustrated but I did manage to get an image posted. That’s my big success so far.

Yesterday, I posted on Facebook about manifesting outcomes and if it’s really possible to do that. I sort of believe it but I’m not totally convinced yet.

Some friends suggested that I start a blog. I was game. The New Year will be here soon and I’ve got to escalate my game plan (which didn’t exist prior to today and I’m still not sure if I have one.) I need a change in my life; something more to do. A reason to bounce out of bed in the morning — Oh, who am I kidding? I’ve never bounced out of a bed in my life.

I’m a septugenarian (72) who isn’t about to run a marathon (or even walk all that briskly to the mailbox) but I still yearn to be a part of the universe in some sort of ‘meaningful’ way, even if it’s only to humor and entertain myself and friends.

I like discussing things that are relevant to older people’s lives. Even if we’ve been AARP members for more than 20 years and our college graduation was one-half century ago, we’re not ready to be put out to pasture. The Baby Boomers are somewhat different from previous generations. We have concerns and interests and problems that may be unique to us, which our parents and grandparents didn’t have to deal with, because technology didn’t exist (I think the advent of color TVs and the remote control were the big inventions in their day) and a lot of them weren’t in good physical shape in their seventies.

We’re holding up better and lasting longer than our predecessors. We’re not ready to call it quits when we turn 70. Nope. We’ve got some mojo left.

We’re looking better longer. We’re had more and better access to medical and dental treatment and drugs and cosmetics our entire lives and that’s helped us keep the Grim Reaper at bay.

What do I hope to achieve with this blog? I don’t have a clue but I do love it when people engage in conversations about anything and everything and it doesn’t have to be about old people’s problems and issues. Let’s talk smack about our children’s generation! And I enjoy a ‘polite’ argument or disagreement. I relish a good belly laugh.

And now to figure out how I make this blog interactive — maybe it is already? And how to get some advertisers so Grammy can get a new pair of shoes.
